Microsoft Windows Vista is the operating system introduced by Microsoft Corporation prior to the release of Microsoft Windows 7. Although it was publicized as better and faster than its predecessors, many computer users were disappointed by what they perceived as an over hyped product by its manufacturers. Microsoft Windows 7 was released not as an upgrade but a different operating system that is supposed to function better and faster than Vista. For this reason, many computer users are shifting to this new operating system platform in the hopes of making their machines perform better. The down side is that you would need to purchase an original copy to have Microsoft Windows 7 in your Vista powered computer system. There are a few tricks though to convert your Vista machine to the Microsoft Windows 7 platform.

Step 1: Check with your machine’s manufacturer. Many manufacturers are offering their customers with a free upgrade disk that will allow them to put the new Microsoft Windows 7 in their computer systems for free.

If you don’t qualify for the free upgrade and currently do not have the cash to purchase an original copy of Windows 7, you can make your Microsoft Windows Vista operating system look and feel like Windows 7.

Step 1: Right click on the taskbar and make sure that it is not locked.
Step 2: Activate the Quick Launch feature of the taskbar and drag frequently used icons to the taskbar.
Step 3: Adjust icon size and width of Quick Launch bar if necessary before locking the taskbar.
Step 4: For a more Windows 7 appeal, you can download and install the Rocketdock software application. Open your browser and search for it on the Internet.
Step 5: On your search engine, look for Vistaglazz 1.3 and Windows7 Style for Vista. Download and install these applications to your machine.
Step 6: Personalize your Windows 7 look by applying the downloaded Windows7 Style theme.
Step 7: To complete the transformation to Windows 7, download and install Aero Shake v1.3, Aero Snap, Windows7-calculator, and NetSetMan. Follow the setup prompts to complete the installation process.

Since you are already running Windows Vista, it is presumed that your computer system already conforms to the minimum requirements of the Windows 7 Operating System platform. If you can shell out the cash for the Microsoft Windows 7 installer:

Step 1: Download and install the Windows 7 upgrade advisor. Just to be sure that everything conforms to the standard.
Step 2: Place the installation disc into the drive and launch the setup.
Step 3: Follow the prompts to complete the setup process and restart your machine.

Please make sure that when you do the complete upgrade that you use a fresh install procedure. This means that you have to select the option to reformat your hard drive. In order to boost your PC even further and keep it running at its best use the recommended award winning product; PowerSuite 2011. This product is an excellent buy as it cleans and defragments your registry, optimizes settings and resources management and updates your drivers with a single click; all on 1 interface.
